I am a "fine art" photographer who has done many workshops in the past ten years and i enjoy doing workshops because i don't like traveling alone, so being with a group of like minded people doing what i love to do best is my ideal.

Mike's way of leading a workshop is perfect for me..........he's very experienced and knowledgeable so when I needed information about how to shoot something, he always  had the answers.........He's a very kind and gentle man who's  not an egotist and isn't insistent that his way is the only way...........and very importantly, he really knows the area where he takes people.   He knows the best places to be at the best times of day.   The locals are drawn to his wonderful warmth and smile, so he paves the way for the rest of us to be able to take photos if we choose to.  Another important aspect of his workshops is that they are very well organized, along with being flexible with respect to time..

I met many other folks in San Miguel who were doing workshops with various other photographers and many of them looked  exhausted from getting up at the crack of dawn, having critiques before breakfast, shooting all day, more critiques after dinner and then more shooting.  If this is what you're looking for, then Mike is not your man.    He believes in creature comforts such as lovely places to stay in, great food at the best restaurants and critiques at reasonable times............I loved the San Miguel workshop so much that I am going to Viet Nam with him in April.........I can't pass it up!   And I am still working with the San Miguel images for the various shows that I have had my work in.

"Three weeks in India with Mike was the most productive and rewarding photo tour I have ever been on.  Mike's experience and personality make all the difference and gave us many photo opportunities that would not have been available otherwise.  He charmed the people wherever we went and enabled us to keep shooting close up shots of people until we got what we wanted.  I highly recommend Mike's small group photo tours."

Mike is a VERY friendly guy which is an important thing when you are photographing strangers. .. Watching him work was a great lesson unto itself. He was always available and happy to answer our questions and willing to give unsolicited advice when he thought it would be beneficial.

Much time was spent on the bus going from place to place and Mike was always happy to talk shop - equipment, lighting, other photographers etc.

It was evident as we began to travel that Mike has spent a great deal of time in Asia and is familiar with the different cultures and its peoples. He also knows where to be and when to get the great shots. The schedule is designed just for this.

There were small road bumps along the way as one would expect, particularly in that part of the world, but we were never really aware of them - Mike handled it all.

In addition to learning a lot about the photographic process we also managed to have a great time. The accommodations were fine, food was generally good and the guides were friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable.

I suppose the most convincing thing I could say is that I will travel again with Mike as soon as my schedule permits.

I give Mike an A+ in each and every area.... I have traveled with Mike to Bhutan, India and Vietnam. He is a great photographer in his own right. He loves to teach photography and will talk photography all day long if you want him to. He knows and understands the cultures inside out.

Mike has an easy going, funny personality. He will get you where you need to be for the best photos. He
has so much experience in foreign travel as a guide that he has no problem dealing with the unexpected. The local guides he uses have been the best.

If you travel with Mike you will have a great trip and come back with equally great images.
